The Samaria Gorge is the largest in Europe totalling 18 kms in length and its width ranges from 150 to 3 meters. The entrance to the gorge is situated in Xiloskalo, which is the highest point of the plateau with an altitude of 1200 meters. Walking through the gorge, not rushing, takes 6-8 hours. From there begins a magical journey, where the landscape reveals the greatness of nature, countless shades of green, huge ancient cypress trees, crystal clear drinking water, huge rocks and tall mountains. It is estimated that within the Samaria Gorge, there are 450 species of herbs, 70 of which only grow there. In 1962, it was declared a national park in order to protect the rare flora and fauna. It is the location where the Cretan wild goat named Kri Kri lives in addition to many rare bird species. In the middle of the walk is the village of Samaria which is currently uninhabited. Now the landscape is changing, both sides of the gorge have come very close together at a distance of 3 meters and 600 meters in height. Passing the narrow passage at the bottom you see the blue sea, after reaching the village of Agia Roumeli, the gorge is over and now you're in the Libyan Sea. Bathing after this long walk is sublime on a beautiful sandy beach with black pebbles in the crystal clear sea.

Chania’s Venetian Port is one of the most important areas in the city of Chania. It was constructed between 1320 and 1356 by the Venetians to protect the city. The lighthouse is the hallmark of the city. Main elements in the exceptional architecture are the surrounding buildings, narrow streets, and a Turkish mosque and a little further afield, the old shipyards, where the Venetians built their ships. To the left of the harbour is the fortress of Bastion next to the Maritime Museum.
